Nepal doubling tourism service charges

Since the fourth, Nepal will double tourist service fees to tourists who are not citizens of this country to boost tourism marketing fund.
The fee will be increased from 565 Nepalese rupees 1,130 Nepali rupees . Along with the obligatory airport taxes 1,100 Nepali rupees , this means that each foreign visitors leaving Nepal will pay a total of 2,230 Nepali rupees (about 23 $).


Mr. Subhash Niraula , CEO of Nepal Tourism Commission ( NTB ) , said : " With the escalation of prices on the international market and the devaluation of the Nepali rupee , which made us required to increase service charges in order to promote more of the scenic country in the competition with other tourist destinations throughout the world . "

NTB will use these funds to develop and promote Nepal bringing closer international friends through participation in trade events and performing arts programs . Niraula He further explains : " With the expansion of budget funds , NTB will proceed to prepare and implement the 5 year plan to penetrate new markets tourism " .


Foreign tourist arrivals to Nepal increased by 0.3 % in 2013 compared with 803 092 passengers in 2012 . The number of tourists from India , the largest tourism market of Nepal , has decreased by 15.8 % . The largest market of Nepal tourism plan then China , Sri Lanka , USA and UK . Average stay of tourists Nepal from 12 to 13 days .
